Venice Beach Lifeguard Tower

Venice, CA

This experimental design for a low-cost, wooden lifeguard tower would utilize a twisting structure of wooden beams to form a natural spiral staircase for lifeguards to ascend. The twisting structure extends beyond the upper deck to also shield the lifeguards from the summer sun, and one face of the base structure is removed to allow access to a shaded room underneath.

The Venice Beach Lifeguard Tower was designed in my First-Year at the USC School of Architecture.
