UnFurled

UnFurled was Perkins + Will's entry into the 2017 Architects for Animals Giving Shelter Exhibit in Los Angeles. The annual event invites dozens of Architecture firms to envision and build a shelter for feral cats, with the final construction being auctioned and donated to a local animal shelter. Our entry was designed to be a modular system that can be easily disassembled and re-arranged while also creating multiple unique moments for a cat to explore. The construction is composed of intertwining spirals, each built from two different modules of laser-cut MDF structure and felt interior.

UnFurled was created by a talented team of designers at Perkins+Will's LA Office. I was personally involved from the very beginning of concept design and had a lead role in the fabrication process.
