The Trailhead integrates Net Zero Energy Architecture into both an educational experience as well as a high-performing set of buildings. The renewable systems, including wind energy, solar energy, and solar heating, not only define the building’s form but are arranged in visible and tangible locations to compliment the discovery experience of the visitor center.  Spanning from the mountainside to the water’s edge, The Trailhead innovates the future of sustainable design by interweaving energy-generating systems into the user experience.

The Trailhead was entered into the 2017 Architecture at Zero competition and designed by myself, Matt Kopp and Austin Pollard. Ladybug and Honeybee were used for the climate and energy analysis.
