The inevitable revitalization of the Los Angeles River provided the opportunity for the proposal of a multifunctional cultural center on the river's banks. Intended to house both a museum, educational center, and recreational areas, the LA River Cultural Center sits atop the existing concrete banks above the river's flood-line, but additionally burrows through to the basin, providing pedestrian access to the variable water levels.
As a historic reference, I incorporated skateboarding into the building form to honor the LA River's resource of skateable terrain that has been utilized by Los Angeles natives for decades. The structure subsequently grows out of the terrain to offer smooth concrete ramps, gaps, and a multi-use skateboard plaza/amphitheater on the roof.

The Los Angeles River Cultural Center was designed in my second-year at the University of Southern California School of Architecture.
